Trick or Treat 2012 catch up

Well, after a few weeks of trying to get Andrew into his costume without screaming and crying...the first time I made the mistake of trying it on over his new pajamas and he was very upset about me covering up his bats, he happily put it on when he was rewarded with M&;M's.  2 M's for the pants, 2 for the jacket and 1 for the hood.

He still didn't wear it for the 1st Halloween activity but mostly because it was too hot.  So the Saturday before Halloween, we went to Haunts & Hounds at the Shops of HV.  Alexis got to meet Marcella there and we trick or treated at the shops. 

That evening was a little crazy.  Grant and his engineering students were doing a frozen pumpkin drop at the High School to try to see the sparks they make when they first hit the ground as they shatter and it was a friend's 30th B-day party.  Due to some scheduling conflicts Andrew came with me to the party (did I mention this was not a party for kids?) before we headed to the pumpkin drop, Alexis went with Grant to help set up.  Andrew learned that he could jump off a chair and roar like a lion, repeatedly, for the whole time we were at the party, except while he was eating...though he did try to jump, roar and eat all at the same time until mommy put a stop to that.

So we headed to the pumpkin drop and found Alexis shivering in one of Grant's student's sweatshirts over her costume as they were walking to his car to get her sweatpants and jacket.

We watched the "fire music", basically the vibration of the music changed the height of the flame as it came out of a pipe connected to a speaker.  And we waited, and waited, and waited for the custodial staff to unlock the gate to get into the football stadium and head up to the press box.  The kids and I finally gave up and went home (after running around for a while).

Then on Halloween, Alexis had pumpkin lab at school.  We discovered she likes to eat pumpkin seeds.  Andrew had a party that consisted of eating sweets.  Then we went to the Fall Festival at LBC.  The kids had a lot of fun, but it was a bit much for Andrew to actually pay attention...he kept running around and grabbing all of the balls etc that you play the games with, so once Grant was done with his shift at the football toss, we left to trick or treat in the neighborhood.  Andrew was great walking around and collecting candy.  Both kiddos were excited, but well-behaved and Alexis went from house to house singing Hark the Herald Angels sing and "na na na Christ is born, the Savior of the world."  If you saw the LBC kids Christmas program this year, then you heard the rest of the song.
